Permissive Footpath Closure and Road Access Update – May 2026
Temporary Footpath Closures – May Bank Holiday Weekend
Ahead of the Lambton Estate Charity Clay shoot, we are writing to inform all residents and commercial tenants of the permissive footpath closures across the Lambton Estate.
All permissive footpaths across the Estate will be temporarily closed from Monday 18th May until Sunday 24th May inclusive to accommodate the Estate’s annual charity clay shoot. The event shoot days are as follows:
Wednesday 20 May 2026 (morning only)
Thursday 21 May 2026
Friday 22 May 2026
Saturday 23 May 2026
But the Lambton team will be busy setting up all week and dismantling on Sunday following the event.
During this period residents may also notice increased vehicle traffic on estate roads, so we kindly ask that you take extra care when travelling through the area. There may also be some limited noise associated with the event; we apologise in advance for any disturbance and appreciate your understanding.
The permissive footpaths will be reopened on Bank Holiday Monday.
The Paddocks will remain open throughout, although we ask residents to be mindful of the increase in traffic when accessing the event.
About the Event
The clay shoot is a charity fundraising event (no live birds are involved). Last year, the event raised an impressive £11,000, supporting:
- The Great North Air Ambulance Service
- 1st Burnmoor Scouts
- East Durham Veterans Trust
This year the event is fundraising for the Great North Air Ambulance Service and Wearside Women in Need.
If you are interested in finding out more about this year’s charities, please feel free to visit their websites below.

We hope you’ll agree that this short-term inconvenience is worthwhile, given the valuable causes being supported. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
